I had the pleasure of meeting an amazing woman at an event last year and learned about her non-profit organization. In 2006, McQuetta Williams unexpectedly became vision-impaired, which was a devastating time in her life. However, she refused to let that stop her living; in fact, she began to live life to the fullest and conquered many obstacles! Along, her journey, she connected with countless women that had also overcame difficulties in life and had succeeded.
It was then that that her mission and purpose and her dream was realized. McQuetta became the Founder / CEO of EnVision Proven Success , a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established to empower women during their recovery from drug and alcohol recovery programs, domestic violence, suicide, human trafficking, re-entry and disabilities etc.
Ms. Williams created a publication that “shares the stories of women who have regained their dignity after painful challenges and struggles and moved forward in a way they previously thought not possible. Their candor allows readers to understand the challenges disadvantaged women face, and have achieved great accomplishments and overcome daunting barriers unimagined by most”
Therefore, I was honored and touched that McQuetta personally asked to have my story of overcoming near-fatal domestic violence and abuse, featured in her 2016 third publication. I am proud to not only share my story but also share the pages with seven other courageous women that shared their extremely powerful stories too. There are stories of hope throughout these pages, dealing with overcoming everything from domestic abuse, drug addiction, human trafficking, disabilities, immigration, to suicide and grieving the loss of a child.
Special thanks to Molly Osmon, the author, for writing my story in her words, yet making sure that my voice was heard!
